About Me
My Background
My future vision for myself is to migrate more and more into the field of Integral Coaching and student mentoring. My other skills will contribute significantly to this new chapter in my life.
For the immediate future I am available to contribute my expertise based on my past experience.
I am recently retired from a career in higher education where my specialization is Learning and Teaching.
Prior to this I was a Vice Principal for Varsity College and Vega School of Brand Leadership, both HE tuition centres for the Independent Institute of Education. I also lectured in the areas of Human Resources and Consumer Buyer Behaviour.
I was a consultant in Leadership Development based on the Care and Growth model (Schuitema E 2013) and the business model of Common Purpose, Common Fate (Shuitema J 2014).
Much of my early career was in administration.
As a consequence of my experience, I have a deep understanding of people’s challenges in charting their course and refining their options.
I am especially drawn to young adults who are deciding on their futures.

My Story
I didn’t always know what I wanted to be or what I wanted to do. This gives me compassion for the majority of young people who are battling to find their way.
Once I worked out what I wanted to do and be I was way behind the others of my generation and I had to work hard at building a career. This process has given me insight into what it takes to be successful.
My path has not always been straightforward and I have had to face the unknown and financial insecurity. I am deeply empathetic with those that face similar crises.
And finally, I have retired and realized that this gives me the opportunity to do something magical. Retiring does not mean the end but the beginning of a new chapter.
An ordinary person learns from their own mistakes, a wise person learns from other’s mistakes and a fool never learns. I have been an ordinary person. I aim to empower my clients to be wise.
